As Austinites flock to our parks to embrace the spring weather, we know the anticipation around the Zilker Eagle grows every day. Since its arrival from the manufacturer several weeks ago, the train has undergone rigorous safety testing and evaluation. And, as of today, our team has decided to extend this critical testing period.
We understand that this process is taking longer than anticipated, and we certainly share in the collective disappointment due to the delayed debut. However, the updates to the train including making it electric, ADA accessible and changing the route, are all necessary and will ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience for all.
passenger Safety Is Our top Priority
The safety of our patrons has been, and will always be, our top priority since Austin Parks Foundation took on this enterprise. We are eager to welcome our community back to the train at Zilker Park and apologize that it will be a bit longer until we can do so.
It is you — our community — who have made this train possible. We promise to continue communicating our progress, and future opening plans as soon as they are available.
With sincere thanks for your support and patience,
Colin Wallis
