Summer is in full swing, and it’s time for your August update on the Zilker Eagle Mini Train! Earlier this week we celebrated two months since opening day, when the train made its inaugural trip around the tracks. Since then, nearly 40,000 people have flocked to the train to take a ride, with some visiting from as far away as Germany, Mexico and Russia! We’ve hosted two Community Hours (courtesy of our friends at the Bill Wood Foundation), which feature free rides from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. We’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming two nursing home groups, who made good use of our ADA compliant depot and train cars. It’s been an incredible summer for the Zilker Eagle, made possible by supporters like you! |

We’ve had so much fun over these past two months, but our work on the train isn’t done just yet! This fall, our crews will be working to improve and refine the train operations to ensure the rider experience is the best it can be. As that work is underway, we will continue to monitor and discuss the timing for the big celebration to give this jewel of Zilker Park the party it deserves (stay tuned for more!).
